I absolutely loved his work in episode 4 during the battle and I'm pretty thrilled about his developments last night. I was worried toward the end while talking to Cersei that he was a goner...

so? Why does any of this matter now?
I don't know, but it'll probably be for dumb reasons on the show
With him and Dany as a couple it probably means a lot less than it could have. Still it gives them/him a sort of legitimacy with everyone (the people and nobles) apart from Cersei, should they/he survive the great war.
It's also easier for Sansa to be warden of the north.
I feel like people forget Varys's riddle to Tyrion about where true power comes from. Basically, the noble houses make a decision as who to follow as king. Those noble houses only have known him as Jon Snow, Ned Stark's bastard. I think it would take something more than a high septon's diary and the word of his "brother" who speaks mysteriously of visions to put him in a position of power in light of his parentage. Being a legitimate Targaryean has to mean something more to the overall story and I'll keep saying so until the show/books give me a reason otherwise. It just wouldn't make sense.
He is nearly king already, if him and Dany become a couple. Why wouldn't the people believe him if he is on the winning side of the war, and Sam can find the documentation for it?

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

basically Theon's entire storyline once he escaped from Ramsey - dumb
I continue to believe they essentially destroyed character development and storylines for the sake of really cool dragon destroying shit footage

Her inability to have children could be a problem.
True. If she can't have children, and she is married to Jon, he won't either. Difficult to say what will happen if she finds out who he is though.

I've got the first few seasons on blu-ray, and I'm sure there are dvds as well.
Now I've got HBO, and it's all there.
Yes, the books have stories and details that are missing from the show. Better in many ways, but of course the show is great in a different category.

Pretty much everything after Tywin's death is different.
That's a little on the dramatic side, but yes, the show tends to stray from the books in varying degrees after Tywin's death. Some huge changes, some minor things to keep the story moving.

What do they do accurately after Tywin's death?
Depends on your definition of accurate. A lot of the same story beats are on the show, but with slight variations in timing and characters involved. There are a lot of big changes too of course.

I missed mary's post earlier so I'm gonna respond to this post.
Mary, fuck the books.
Also, you're 1,000% right about Theon on the show. It was all so completely fucking dumb. It killed all the momentum the episode had built up to that point and I don't know that it ever totally got it back.
