I will never admit to anyone how old I was before I was certain...100%, I don't worry that I'll embarrass myself certain...that Joel Osteen wasn't just a Martin Short character.

Lost power today. Surprised it took this long. I'm very dry where I'm at. On an island, apparently. Charging phone at a local coffee shop and just game planning how to help people in the coming days.Strat wrote:So, im sorry, where is reid in relation to the major flooding? Is he still in house?
Thanks for all of your concerns. Seriously.

Re: Here comes the story of the hurricane
Shared with someone via PM but might as well update here too. Thanks for everyone's support and concern. Houston will be okay. Worried about my family in Beaumont now.
It's a beautiful day with 70 degree weather now. I've lost track, but I think it's been raining since Friday. Harvey's now hurting my hometown of Beaumont/Port Arthur, which means when all is said and done, flood and destruction will have spread across a six hour drive from
Corpus to the border. I haven't been watching any nationl coverage at all, just local. During the ordeal they did an outstanding job reporting essential info and actually helping either direct or assist with rescues on the ground since the rain began. I can't say enough good things about everyone on the ground here. Dropped off supplies to people at George R Brown yesterday and broke into tears. Mountains of bags full of donations, people showing up to drop things off then getting mistaken for volunteers so they just slap a name tag on and help for a few hours. Chefs who don't have power at their places are just going to other restaurants and cooking large batches to serve to responders. Places that do have power and can serve food are already listing who they are donating proceeds to on their menu. I'm crying now just thinking about the heart of this city.
Long winded post, but just putting it out there. Don't know what the national narrative of this shit storm is and don't care. THIS is what's happening on the Gulf Coast right now. I'm in Houston, but I promise you the community response is happening all over.
