So far the only great part of this album is the last minute of track 9. Very disappointing overall. Clockwork kills this record.

I get irrationally annoyed whenever people praise LC

Well, the thing is, LC isn't a bad album. I like most of it. Some of it is even great. But it is just so, so, SO not where I want QOTSA to go. It's a massive downer of a record. I never listen to it. All of Josh's medical scare stuff just ran that record into a depression hole. Which is...fine. I get it. But I wish Homme had just made a solo record. QOTSA shouldn't be depressing.

Smooth Sailing, If I Had A Tail and My God Is The Sun are the cream of the crop in my opinion.

After about a dozen listens:

Villains of Circumstance
Fortress
Head Like a Haunted House
The Evil Has Landed
Feet Don't Fail Me
Un-Reborn Again
The Way You Used to Do
Hideaway
Domesticated Animals

Domesticated Animals actively hurts the album as a whole.

I get what LV says but part of the charm of LC is the mood, the overall vibe of the whole album. It feels almost as a concept album.

I Like it more than Villains of course...every songs feels more finished and interesting that this collection of songs. In fact its the very first time were i cant find something new in a QOTSA release.

Whatever our feelings about this particular set of songs, I think we can all agree that any band nearly 20 years into its existence that can have such diverse "favorites" lists from fans on its latest record is a sign of a pretty kickass career.

I've always felt that qotsa had a dark side, even when they sound mostly fun. The sarcasm and insanity so common in their songs always hinted for something very dark, that ended more upfront in LC.

I like the dark when it's menacing, like SFTD and LTP. Not when it's sad and depressing.
