Yeah they're not lazy/crap, they're stupid.harmless wrote:I said this in the bitching thread:
'I've listened to the two new b-sides. I obviously love them and am baffled that they still play this stuff, at home, in private, but decide that nobody is going to want to hear it. I can't fathom it. My favourite band in the word have not lost their talent. They are simply deluded now.'
Reminds me of comeback but obviously better, it has an old school blues/soul thing going onLooseGroove927 wrote:Does Cold Confessionremind anyone else of Other Side?
The music also reminds of a stone song, but i cant remember which one since i dont listen to his solo stuff all that much.Might just be the grooove.

Nice songs. Let It Ride is 100% b side material. CC is neat but its basically a structured improve. 6 mins of a verse. When it starts to get really good in the last few seconds it fades out. Pretty cool though.

They're both absolutely A-side material for latter-day PJ. If we get anything like this level of song on LB, I'll be very surprised. What I do know is that if we do, it won't be the filler.

if anything, i feel a whole lot better knowing that this band still exists somewhere beneath all the polish and yeah-yeah-yeahs of the last few years.

So pissed I can't listen to these at work. Everyone's descriptions have me pretty anxious to hear them. I just hope the CC comparisons to Other Side are not true. Other Side is one of the very few PJ songs I really don't care for. Judging by the descriptions, CC sounds more interesting....

I hate to break it to you, but this was still 8 or 9 years ago.dprival78 wrote:if anything, i feel a whole lot better knowing that this band still exists somewhere beneath all the polish and yeah-yeah-yeahs of the last few years.

Well, 8-9 years ago is also a period where many people felt PJ were already dying....

I think it's Mike's guitar tone that made me think that. Its a slow burner, but it plods along much better than Other Side.Revelator wrote:I just hope the CC comparisons to Other Side are not true.

These songs prove that PJ could bring this still if they wanted to. They don't. They want to make an accessible pop song now which makes the crowd go 'wild' and which Brendan O'Brien has spit-and-polished. That's what they want to do, and Ed gets pissed off when crowds don't respond well to it.Strat wrote:WtOB? wrote:I hate to break it to you, but this was still 8 or 9 years ago.dprival78 wrote:if anything, i feel a whole lot better knowing that this band still exists somewhere beneath all the polish and yeah-yeah-yeahs of the last few years.

Just gave LB another listen on Youtube. It's ridiculously up-beat. The riff literally makes me cringe. This is supposedly some sort of iteration of 'Unthought Known' except that was an OK song...
