Some more development and maybe letting it jam out a bit more and there'd be something.
That's where they'd be slaughtered though. In production.
They're demos. Not fully realised finished songs at all.
Can anyone hear Jeff on these?
Yes, and he sounds great. Are you listening to the same songs?

I think CC could be an ed Tune. He is definitely starting the song off as that is classic Guitar/Amp combo of eds. Interesting guitar chords for Vedder....dimejinky99 wrote:I meant writing. I kinda hope both of these, "Of The Earth", and "Anything In Between" all make Lightening Bolt.

Not me i'm just trying to come up with reasons they won't be on the next album to temper my excitement.dprival78 wrote:if the music is better, who cares?stupidmop wrote:If the album took 4 years and they stopped and scrapped it once already it's odd that they'd be putting two 8 year old tracks on it, no?
Do you know anything about the possibility of them appearing on LB? Or if theyre just old tracks that hadn't got out yet?KurtLeon wrote:Like I said to spenno in PM, I'll talk to my contact to see if he can provide more.
Of The Earth, 2x4 and Navy bean are my objectives now.

See above. LIR has that almost reversed melody in the chords that Stone likes a lot(did he write fatal/all or none?)
The other I think might be Jeff.

I can only imagine how O'Brien would've 'fixed' CC. "This first section goes on too long, it's too boring. Have you got a bridge we can use for the chorus, to appear three or four times in the song?"

My contact sent me saying that they were "leaked Lightning Bolt songs", but he didn't know about the recordings in 2004, and HIS contact just sent him without any info at all. So I'm pretty positive they will not be on LB.stupidmop wrote:Do you know anything about the possibility of them appearing on LB? Not at all. I don't want them to go backwards at all. I don't want anything to sound like a specific previous era. I just want them do things that are interesting. And since they haven't put out much that's interesting since 2004 I can see how my desire can be seen as retrospective yearning, but that's not it. What I hear in these songs is the natural progression (read: forward looking) of the band until they made a conscious decision to RAWK and become more overtly commercial.Tuolumne wrote:4/5 wrote:Let It Ride....Wow. Has that song really been sitting there while they've given us Unemployables and Supersonics? Sigh.
Let me try that again because I'd rather be positive this morning:
Let It Ride....Wow!! THAT is the band that I love(d)! This shows that they can still write great stuff. Please let this song be on the new record.
To me, this says alot. "THAT is the band I love" I take as wanting to go backwards to a former time. To me, it's the same as when Ten fans were upset with No Code and they wanted the band to still be anthemic and dark. The band have been through this with alot of fans before, except much much worse.
As I write this Cold Confession is playing and all I'm really thinking is "man, this is a great song!!" not "This is a great song because it sounds like (insert favorite past moment here)."

I just want to know why they released these. Is it part of the new album waiting game? That would be nice to know. Are these demos that O'Brien has 'fixed' for the new album?

Yeah. This future days tune made me realise how much BOB really only wanted to feature his own playing on Backspacer. To the detriment of good songs that didn't need keys. (UK chief among them)

It's just nice to have a song breathe. There hasn't been a lot of that in the past couple records.4/5 wrote:Not at all. I don't want them to go backwards at all. They're decent songs though.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:if thats sodprival78 wrote:maybe the PJ camp leaked these out to gauge the response - to see if people were still interested in, oh i don't know, more interesting music. they're going to monitor the internets, and if people seem to dig them, they'll put them on the album.
