Can't believe I'm doing this for a division rival, but here we are.

With Alex Smith at QB and Andy Reid coaching? It's amazing to me people actually DO take them seriously.

they've won one playoff game with that combination, against what might honestly have been the worst playoff team of the last 20 years (the vaunted Brian Hoyer Texans)

that combination has also blown one of the biggest playoff leads in history (against Indy), and has shown even less of an ability to manage the clock than Reid's old Philly teams (have you watched their last two playoff losses?)

The only thing to take seriously about the Chiefs is the home filed advantage and noise from their crowd.

Hell, I don't expect them to make much of a game out of this Thursday night, frankly.

they're a good team but I just cannot take them as a serious championship contender with that coach/QB combo

Taking the Pats +8.5 tonight in my pick 'em league. Thoughts?

Probably a good idea. I expect the Pats to cover the spread.

I hate taking that many pts, but it's opening night, chiefs have a good defense, but Brady will likely put up 30 - 35 pts.

Predictions for tonight:

PATS: 41
CHIEFS: 20

Chiefs D gets one TD. The offense gets the other.
Smith is 25/35 265 yards 1 TD, 1 INT
Hunt gets 22 carries for 112 yards

Brady is 28/32 3 TD, 0 INT (sits the fourth quarter)

I expect a closer game than that, Joe. 29-23.

I wish I had gone on record saying the Chefs were gonna beat the spread tonight. Not like this, but I thought that line was wat too high. Patriots offensive playcalling was unimaginative late and the Chefs ran all over them. I'll be interested in seeing Smith's stats tomorrow, but he was really impressive with just about everything.
