1998-09-11: New York, NY

Post by mikejasond »

Listening to this on Sirius XM right now. Eddie sounds great on Release. This recording is really bad though...I dunno if its my headphones or what, but it sounds echoey and distant. Really weird that that would be played on the radio. It sounds like a fan recording.

Matt's improved a bit on Hail, Hail since that July show.

It is a fan recording. PJ Radio should have higher audio quality standards for what's air-able, imo.

So you have shitty audience recordings played over a super compressed stream. It sounds like shit.

Dang who the heck played Baba O Riley in 1998 on an award show that Eddie said 'these corporate cocksuckers should leave these songs alone' , and 'we're gonna show them how we really play it'

Pretentious as hell of Eddie to be like "WE ARE SO WONDERFUL WE'LL SHOW YOU HOW TO PLAY THIS SONG" especially because Baba is not one of their better covers.

Apparently (according to the pit) it was Third eye blind that Eddie was saying isnt allowed to cover the Who because PEARL JAM CAN DO IT SO MUCH BETTER <_<

Id like to hear that performance Eddie was so pissed off about but I cant find it anywhere. It seems like Eddie was being a total dick though

There is a fantastic matrix out there (or maybe it's not in the public trading spheres) for this show that sounds really great...it's too bad Pearl Jam has worse sources than fans do for these types of shows

One of the great shows to be sure.
And yes, just by audio standards alone, the Sirius channel makes some odd choices to air.

I won't start a new topic for this one but I just heard Given to Fly from the 7-14 show...night after this one. I thought it was the studio track for a little because it was so good
