Re: new (old) song: Cold Confession
this is easily the most popular song on RM in forever. Maybe one or two songs on Binaural come close. I'd have to look at old polls.

Apparently, having searched for talk about this song in the past, Jeff mentioned in an interview that this came out of a 15-minute jam.

This reminds me a lot of Army Reserve absent Jeff. There's something about the vocal melody and even the notes.

I'll rephrase after reading the other thread: it's beautiful. Very unexpected.

Re: new (old) song: Cold Confession
I like it for the groove, the keys, and the watery rotovibe sound you hear pop up just before the 90 second mark. The vocal melody would probably sound better if it was in a lower register and the song was in a different key, but that aside, its a solid deep cut from the vaults. Imagine what else they have just sitting there we'll never get to hear.
I might be able to get to an E-bow.

Yeah army reserve and inside job both have kinda odd vocal melodys to me, or maybe its just eds singing. This has the same kinda thing going on, but it works better cause the song is bluesy/ soul soundingIlluminEddie wrote:This reminds me a lot of Army Reserve absent Jeff. The clean guitar almost sounds like someone plugged directly into the board instead of miking an amp, but that's probably not true. Although, I don't think I've ever heard one of their guitar tracks sound like that.

I'm pretty sure Future Days is close.stip wrote:this is easily the most popular song on RM in forever. Maybe one or two songs on Binaural come close. I'd have to look at old polls.
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

Yeah I can hear that - I wonder if that was the reason for leaving it off?IlluminEddie wrote:This reminds me a lot of Army Reserve absent Jeff. There's something about the vocal melody and even the notes.

I seem to remember RM having a pretty big hard-on for Force of Nature.stip wrote:this is easily the most popular song on RM in forever. Maybe one or two songs on Binaural come close. I'd have to look at old polls.

Re: new (old) song: Cold Confession
Not to bring down the party, but the verse has an almost "inside job-y" kinda melody... minus the horrible lyrics
Overall the song is more All or None to me than anything else. And that is a good thing.
