Ran over a small stick today and caught a flat on my rear tire. First trail ride since a major fall I took several days after getting the bike. The universe really doesn't want me to ride, I guess.

When I say "trail" I really mean smoothly paved bike path just off the city streets. Road tires on cement. No Calvin and Hobbes neighborhood forest riding for me, unfortunately.

~40-mile ride this morning in ~3:30. Stupid Garmin kept cutting in and out.

About 12 miles an hour. :?

Edit: Map my Ride says it was about 47 miles, so I averaged about 13 MPH.

Could have really used some bigger gears.

You're a beast.

Hey guys, is it normal to lose 10-15 PSI after every ride? Houston roads are incredibly bumpy except on bike paths. I've talked to other riders around here who lose PSI after every ride too.

While we're on the subject, can I put presta valves in a schrader rim without risk of a flat? In my mind the extra space between the hole and the valve could open me up for a pinch in the tube.

Oh yeah, cycling uses different muscles than running.

My quads are fucking wasted this morning. I could barely get out of bed.

Damn dude.

What kind of Garmin do you use? I thought about using my phone at one point but I noticed that every time I use it, it does the same thing - cut out. My ride this morning wasn't even 10 miles. Unless space and time warped somehow, it's still 15 miles from home to work.

I have the Garmin 230. I may just need to calibrate it for cycling because it's great and deadly accurate for running. I may just take my phone next time. I also probably need to get a cage or a bottle holder for the seatpost, because I just did this one with two Nathan Quickdraws wedged into my bento.

I'll probably do 60 or 70 next time. I'm supposed to do a century ride by the end of October to win $100 from an idiot co-worker.

I signed up for uber eats bike delivery today. Just for fun. Won't really be able to get it started until next week due to work schedule, though.

It's all relative, friend.

I have a couple of buddies who are already over 3K miles for the year.

Ugh. It's raining out which is great for the forest fires but not so much for me and my bike. I hate cleaning it every weekend.

I have presta valves in schrader rims, Reid. I did it a long time ago, so it's kinda foggy, but I got some kind of adapter to make it work. Wasn't that expensive, either. I'll take some pics when I get home...if I remember.
