In Our Time is back from their summer break this week! I couldn't be more excited to listen to British people drone on for 3/4 of an hour.

I literally got so bored reading this post that I stopped six times and had to start over. It took over four minutes to get to the end.

The newest episode is on Kant's categorical imperative! Geeeeeeet puuuuuumped!

General knowledge. Host has on three experts and they discuss the topic. They actually have separate iTunes feeds for (if I remember correctly) "culture" (so literature and art, music, etc.), science, history, and philosophy & religion. There are nearly 800 episodes.

Kind of. It can leave a weird feeling in your head for a few weeks afterwards if you don't watch out, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Great story with lots of turns. I personally found the host's verbal ticks to be annoying, but that's not a deal breaker.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Host doesn't bother me. I actually kind of like how little production there is compared to other NPR podcasts.

I've loaded up my iPod with old episodes of the memory palace in case I'm 5-7 minutes from home and I finish a longer podcast with time to spare. Nice and short.

I haven't played S Town yet. Is it worth it?

I would say, absolutely, yes. Check it out. It's not perfect but it's really gripping and gives the listener a lot to enjoy and also really think about.
