It's "The Last Song," from the "Aeroplane Flies High" box set. It's not really extraordinary in any way -- it's just about fifteen seconds of just the right color in just the right place, and I've always really liked it.PHATJ wrote:Which Pumpkins song does Billy's dad play on? I literally feel like Im in bizarro world. I listen to PJ on the radio and am constantly underwhelmed by the live guitar playing and here its like everybody praises this mediocre guitar playing as wonderful. There are so many bands with better live guitarists....Stone is NOTHING impressive, even a little bit.

I think maybe you do live in bizzaro world. There's more to being a guitar player than live radio. Besides few of us are really qualified to judge. We like what we like.

Is it the semi-acoustic-type tone Stone often uses in modern versions of Black that gets to you, like this?
Here's an earlier version. Do you like this better, worse or the same?
Are there specific parts you can point to that illustrate what you don't like?
I want to understand.

The 2013 one is better I think by a bit I think, but neither is great. It just sounds sloppy. Like he's still learning the song somehow. And Ive heard bootlegs where its even worse. Where I literally am like 'omg you are ruining this song with your clunky playing and harsh tones'

I love the part of Single Video Theory where Stone talks about how he created songs at the time(Yield), usually coming up with a riff on a guitar, then working something out from that, and finally developing a complete song with the entire band. Brilliant.

I also love the part where Mike talks about how they do a tour, usually over two different legs, going from town to town via airplane in different sections of America and playing a show for 2-3 hours in each city's concert venue, and finally saying "good night" to the audience after the last song. Brilliant.PHATJ wrote:theplatypus wrote:...
