Conspiracy Theory-Someone in the band released on purpose as a cry for help. After they heard all the bashing of the new songs, altho I for one like MYM, they want us to know that they are still capable of writing good tunes but Ed wont release them....Listen I love Eddie as much as the next guy but he needs to yield.

One interesting thing is that when I was being chastised by the mods on The Pit for posting lyrics to the leaked songs and "not respecting copyright" the threat that was made to me was that my account would be closed until the new record came out. I wonder if just maybe that was a hint that these will be on the new record somehow or bonus material or something? It just struck me as a little odd that it wasn't a threat to shut down my account for some random amount of time or permanently, but rather until the new record was released. Why make that particular threat about these leaked songs if they aren't related to the upcoming album in some manner?

Am I overthinking things? Probably. Haha

they may intend to release it in the future, and now that it has leaked people will look at the S/T rerelease with these new songs and wonder why we weren't given anything else. I don't want these songs on the new album anymore since we currently have them, but I don't think they will be regardless.

That's up there with the greatest sucker punches we have ever been dealt by this band.

The difference between the board's response to "Lightning Rod" and "Future Days" (which was, basically, "meh") vs. the reaction to these two leaked tracks ("HOLY SHIT WHAT IS THIS OMG") is pretty staggering.

It is. It's not surprising. Two were hardly knock it out of the park live performances, and the others are good (even great) studio songs. The reaction to MYM, while not quite at this level, was also very positive.

also, two aren't that great and kinda boring, while the other 2 are exciting and interesting

MYM seems to sit right in the middle of these 2 opinions.

looks like the original 6 leak from back in the day, and i havent listened to what you posted there, but its probably the life wasted with out the Fade out which is nice

Yes that is the original leak - and like these songs they are mistakenly labelled 'demos'. I think this conversation has happened before but demos are things like Jeff's NAIS on PJ20 - these are studio recordings which are unfinished/unmastered.

Also - anyone notice the short clips/distortion at a single point in both songs - I assume that is so we buy the clean version when it appears on Lost Dog II.

Hard to name many artists that wouldn't be improved by making their approach more Youngsian.
