Not really to do with the actual songs, more the idea the title creates. or something.

I'd be tempted to if I had the money. My degree is actually in Government & Politics and my focus was theory, so it's a subject that's right up my alley.stip wrote:It is. If you need something to tide you over I hear the book in my sig link is pretty good.

It is ridiculously expensive. The questions you don't ask when you sign your first contract. There will probably be a paperback in a year or two.

Marx is definitely the person who's views made the most sense to me . I always found Hobbes & Rousseau to be the most fascinating writers though. Especially Hobbes; Leviathan is just jaw dropping, even more so when you imagine it in its original context.stip wrote:It is ridiculously expensive. In college it was mill. I went to grad school planning on doing my work on him, but gravitated towards American authors and the theory/practice hybrid I focus on now. Thurman Arnold (in particular the folklore of capitalism) is probably my current favorite.
Hobbes and Marx are both very fun to teach, though

RVM/blood
Immortality
Present Tense
Faithful
NAIS/Insignificance
Green Disease
Comatose
Force Of Nature
I went with these based more on cool sounding album names vs songs that represent the albums...though most of them are standouts to me as well.

I need to revisit Mill. I remember reading On Liberty around the same time I was really immersed in everything Sartre & Camus & Kierkegaard, so I'm sure I didn't give it the attention it really deserved as those other three guys were in the process of blowing my world wide open. I've always meant to read The Subjection of Women.

His socialism essays are more interesting. On liberty is great, especially when you can draw an arrow from one book to libetarianism and democratic socialism.Lament wrote:I need to revisit Mill.
