Are these tunes well received by the S/T Backspacer haters? Just curious, what's the consensus?
Extremely well received.

Since it is, maybe fanclub members are getting that EP Mike talked about with 6-8 b-sides along with LB? That's why these songs some how showed up now after all these years on the shelf? One can hope with songs like these 2.

I'm almost back to thinking it could be a double album. Why do they not have the tracklist out? Are they possibly working the order out over the span of 2 discs? The price thing is really interesting and possibly telling.
They have 3 months until release. They wanted to have an album announcement to go with the tour. They want the record to be released around the start of the tour. They have 3 months to fill in between. We will get the track list during a lull.

My theory
How will I know when this lull is happening? What does a lull look like? Worse than now?

Yes, although some of the unity was undercut when some people started saying how these great songs will make lightning Bolt suck. Then we had a typical fruitful conversation when some people argued not like everything makes you a hipster douche, some people argued that the people who sometimes take issue with the tone of the board just don't like reading criticism, and everyone missed the point

Well we've heard 4 new(to us) songs in the past week, i'd wager worse than now.

Another question...Why the hell would a band sit on songs this good for so long? Almost 10 years? I don't get that, I see not putting them on S/T or BS. But why not get them out there to the consumer? I would if I was a band, especially with itunes. Just drop an occassional song or two for $1.29 a peace now and again of decent leftovers in between albums. Doesn't that make sense now days?

Ok, there's been 40 pages in this thread since I went to sleep. Can someone catch me up? The band has said these are taboo?

These songs haven't really made Lightning Bolt sound worse for me. I'm not expecting much more than a couple of decent rock songs. PJ's present course was set a long time ago. I'm expecting something on par with a post-staley Alice in Chains album.

At the gym today I put MYM on a playlist between these two. I thought it worked well.

I wonder why the band doesn't want these traded. Could it be because people are enjoying them more than the new songs?

Plans for future release I suspect. The 'oh shit this is better than our new product' thinking is really just the kind of thing the rm bubble would produce

The Pit are also enjoying it more than the new songs. It can't be good for the lead-up to the new album at all. I'd say its perfectly valid to suspect that may be at least some of the reason.

Future release would be great if we get more gems like these.
