What movies are you watching?

I still wanna see it. I am not a big fan of Aronofsky but it's been crazy divisive and I'm just very curious

I think it's purported craziness is being overstated a bit. I think it's really only so divisive due to a particular scene of violence near the end.

I found it to be one of the more uncomfortable movies I've sat through pretty much throughout, so I can see where people are coming from. It's probably not a fun watch for people with anxiety, for example.

Wind River.

Beautiful, breathtaking, violent, sad...such a good thriller, the acting is great, the story is so small and at the same time so huge. Great movie.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I loved Nocturnal Animals when I saw it in the cinema for the first time. I tried to re-watch it a few weeks ago at home, and when I got to some of the harder parts I thought to myself, "why am I subjecting myself to all this pain?" and turned it off. It's a difficult movie (but great).

Ended up watching this solo and I wouldn’t call it difficult. Unpleasant? Unsettling? I don’t know. Maybe it was too cruel for me to really like.

I did not enjoy it. I get why many people would, the acting is uniformly great, but it was just too much anger and cruelty in a two hour film for me to like. Maybe it sort of depicts all the worst things that can happen to a “good” man in such a way that some of my own fears were manifested on the screen and it turned me off to AA’s side of the story.

The Bar.

A spanish movie, directed by Alex De La Iglesia showing how bad his career gas got. Its a very boring, common movie about a group of people trapped in a bar in Madrid.
I dont know what happened to De La Iglesia, but its been a while since he made a good movie.

Lady Gaga: Five Foot Two.
As someone who haven´t heard a single note of Gaga´s albums i was into this doc, mainly because its very well shot and produced. I enjoyed Gaga´s story of her new album, her moments in studio and the pre production of the super bowl show, and the coolest moment, her singing to her grandma a song about a lost aunt. Some very cool image on an overall by the numbers doc.

Gerard´s Game.

Pretty cool...i like Mike Flanagan in general, the guy knows how to make a good suspenseful movie. He isnt very good aesthetically and thats were this movie suffers...but overall its a very good adaptation from a very difficult book.
Carla Gugino is awesome.

Goon: Last of the Enforcers.

Great sequel to the already classic hockey movie Goon. This is being directed by Jay Baruchel, and he does a fine job gettin the violence of the original with a little more heart...the cast is great, and the whole thing is bonkers. Great movie.

Watched Captain Underpants with my son this weekend. The humor was predictably potty-based but we had a few good laughs.

Also watched Donnie Darko with him. For some reason my wife has told him more than once that it's a scary movie so he was worried about it but watched it anyway. Frank freaked him out initially but he got over it. The funniest part was after the car accident and the clown gets out of the car, he got right next to me and grabbed my arm. I paused the movie and told him that it was just a kid in a costume, it's not like the movie IT. It was pretty funny how much he relaxed after that. At the end of the movie we talked for a bit about the ending. He was confused but had some really good questions so he was paying attention.

Man that's a good movie. There's a few shots that are questionable but for a first movie it's really well done.

I found IT, the Stephen King adaptation, to be a pretty downright silly movie. The only really scary part was

the grown-man pharmacist who was like "hell yeah let's do this" when the 13-year-old girl started flirting with him.

Yeah, It was fun and occasionally shocking, but not scary. A good horror movie (Exorcist, Let the Right One In, Blair Witch) will usually fuck with my head for weeks (and I watch maybe one a year for that reason), but It was out of my system within a few hours.

IT is a much better movie than all those you listed. But I agree it's not scary. Most horror movies aren't.
