Never a huge fan either but a big loss for the music industry.
Wish I saw him here in March, his set was basically big hit after big hit.

im sure this sounds terrible, but as a dumb teenager in high school i didnt have much appreciation for "Classic Rock" and only listened to modern rock but Mary Jane's Last Dance was big and catchy and got me to listen to the greatest hits album it was on and then start going through his catalog, and he pretty much got me into the other amazing bands i was overlooking so ive always cared so much more for his music for that reason. super sad right now

I think a lot of people born in the early to mid 80s can cite Tom Petty's greatest hits as an album that shaped their appreciation for music. I surely can.

Absolutely. And that lead me to keeping an eye on releases moving forward, including Wildflowers. Due to that, i was a huge fan of his latter day work moreso than a lot of his earlier stuff. I worked my way backwards.

His recent stuff is still fucking fantastic.
