Yes, performance based with lots of documentary interludes in between. I'd say 60/40 or 70/30. I think Clinch really respects the audience enough where he didn't want to skimp on performance. When he shows a song, it's a full song. If anything, maybe he gave us too much there. He could have went the clip route and just showed snippets of more songs but maybe he had RM types in his head "how dare you cut off my favorite part!" This worked his way and also went against him. Like, for me, Corduroy totally worked somehow, totally riveted me and connected to the baseball theme in a way I wasn't expecting and that really tied to the Cubs playoff story. Same with Elderly Woman. But Jeremy, not so much. It's a teenage suicide song, so the performance and footage was great but it kinda took me out of the story Clinch was trying to tell. Crazy Mary also really worked for me with the clip of sharing the wine tied with the tension of the games and the fans bonding over it, whereas Black may have taken me out of the story too. Me out. Stuff like that. I am so glad this film is part of their history. This will be a great one to look back on.mikejasond wrote:So wait, it IS mostly performance? Just realised. The ticket for the first pearl jam gigs in cork and Dublin were £16.75. Less than the ticket for tonight.

I think their filmography is really turning into something pretty cool. Like we have different things that are essential in their own right. SVT is their inside the warehouse look, TB2K is the DIY homemade video, Live the Garden is one singular show, IIC a little Italian flavored detour, PJ20 being a visual history and now this, which is its own singular thing. The one that seems like a total waste is Live at the Showbox, which doesn't have a specific reason to exist. What we don't have is that inside the band look on their dynamics and personality conflicts and stuff. Maybe someday.

Live at the Showbox is a really cool item. It them trying to figure how to shoot a small show by themselves. I would love to have more of these.

A lot of people in the theater I went to were clapping after songs, and a few got drunk enough that they started dancing near the end. I had a plate of steak street tacos that were damn tasty, surprisingly, and a 22oz offering of Left Eye, Right Eye-a double IPA from a local favorite, Track 7. I enjoyed myself more than I thought I would

By the way, BluRay and DVD are up on Amazon. $27 for the DVD. $25 for the BluRay. Both are $20 plus $7 domestic shipping at Ten Club.
Do what that info what you will.

That dude in the yellow shirt and orange hat is in about 17% of the scenes. I don't know how that impacts your interest in this film.
