Started reading The Big Short. Had this weird sense of deja vu that I'd read something by this guy before but couldn't place it. It was just so smarmy, I'm-the-smartest-guy-in-the-room, that I couldn't shake the feeling. I just checked Goodreads and turns out I read Liar's Poker a couple years ago. Weird.

I :heartbeat: HG Wells
The Time Machine is absolutely tops. The Island of Dr. Moreau is pretty good also. War of the Worlds and Invisible Man were middling to me, though. But Time Machine is so great

Just finished this. Simply put. One of the best books I've ever read. Bawling happy tears at the end. Can't get over it. Well worth your time. Robbing yourself if you don't read it.

Order of the Phoenix. Probably the best one yet. She's a great writer but the endings suck. That and Harry is an annoying emo twat.

I am but rarely update it. It's awesome for finding out what books your favourite authors are reading though.

Nobel Prize will be awarded sometime soon (probably next Monday, the 9th). With two English-language writers in the past four years, chances of that happening again are slim. I could totally see a Middle Eastern winner this year.

Nobel Prize reveal is tomorrow morning, usually it's like 6AM EST. Get your popcorn ready, especially if you're a Murakami or Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o fan.

Reading The Sex Lives of Siamese Twins by Irvine Welsh and it's...wow. It's intense. It's really awkward too because I'm actually listening to it so I get to listen to a female narrator go on and act out all of these sex scenes.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
