it matters to scenesters like Trag and SNC who listen exclusively to shitty semi-coherent DIY garage noise where the bands' musical abilities are secondary to whether they ascribe to the correct industry ethics.

Jesus, I'm catching shrapnel here. Yeah, I like DIY garage noise (among other things), but more often than not if you play/listen to that kind of music you share a similar outlook on the shittiness/worthlessness of the big industry machine. As important ethics are in the art you craft, its secondary to the need to create and express yourself. I gravitate more towards that I guess, the people to actually have to make something in order to stay sane this fucked up world.

For me at least, it's always the music first. If I like it and its genuine and it speaks to me than I'm on board. It's pretty simple. I've never been all that impressed by ability.
