"A WARMTH ALIVE AND LINGERING".
now that we can cross that off our list what are some other things we want to hear Eddie Vedder describe?
Helium balloons.

1) if it built up any bigger than it does it would feel forced.
2) i'm hoping boom playing the intro & outro from now on changes it for the better.
It almost certainly will. The problem is he won't be playing it on the album version :shake:
maybe the touring band '13-'14 dvd will capture it well-enough.
but for such a dvd they'd likely use the sentimental wrigley version (unless that gets it's own dvd)

One of my complaints initially was that this sounded like a twee church worship song. Also that it was about some relationship. Boring.

But then some new member (IlluminEddie I think?) put forward some conspiracy theories about these songs that kind of interested me, one of which was this song was less relationship song and more 'Latter Days / End Times' prophecy from an atheist, about all of our relationships on a collective level. I liked that. If that was the case, maybe the hymn / cheesy worship sound is deliberate and a gentle try at irony. I can dream.

it's interesting. I have no idea. It's hard to do more than just speculate until you hear a final version, especially with Eddie's lyrical track record during live performances.

This guy's theories were attractive because they basically unified these three tracks thematically, along with the artwork. If this new album was a kind of concept album, I would basically repent of pretty much all of my rage lately and give it a really good chance.

It would be pretty nice if we could set forth on a new return to form, with agency.

This song might be ok with a good studio performance.

The fate of this song rests on not if there will be lasers, but how many and whether they are Federation or Romulan.

Well I only listened to it twice and that was a few days ago now. I can't seem to remember how it goes anymore but I can't bring myself to listen to it again. every time I look at this thread title my brain starts singing "my future's filled... with future daaaays!"

I didn't realize TMW was that much of a setlist presence in 2003. I somehow managed to only catch it once that year.

I think it was only played about 40 percent of the time on that tour. I get his point though.

Yeah yeah yeah

I don't hate the lasers on SoS, but wow, they are pointless.
