I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Two people on a defunct, unofficial, Pearl Jam message board mentioning that her name has been mentioned on said message board is so far less than she deserves.

And yet with every post we make, Emily St. John Mandel's notoriety grows...

Addendum: I went to my nephew's birthday party today, and through conversation found out that my brother and my dad are also reading this, and none of us knew.

Say what you will about this little corner of the internet, but it's been my experience that you guys often have a finger on the pulse of the tastemakers out there. Not even joking.
