Re: Let's Play Two: Live from Wrigley Field
My review.
Lets Play Two.
Have we become numb with the fact that we have a new PJ movie showing in a theatre? The second PJ movie?
I picture my fifteen years old version going to see this and going nuts about it.
Going crazy watching footage of the Metro show, Ed in the streets in 1992, the Release story, BRY with fucking Dennis Rodman!!! Dennis fucking Rodman doing his part. My god.
I picture my 25 years old version of me being surprised and blown away with the Cubs story...the curse, theo epstein´s story, Steve Gleason...Inside Job, Low Light, Go, Mym,..There is a lot to weight in here.
As my actual 34 years old version walks into the theatre, i reflect a little about my own story as a Pearl Jam fan. Too many years, too many memories. Too much people coming and going...Too many painful and sad moments attached to the music, too many great ones...ah, the memories right? Is that why PJ is still a force in my life? Is that why Black sounds new to me? Maybe is because i cant detached what it means to me. Maybe because its always changing and re arranging itself and giving new meanings and stories to tell.
Maybe thats why i will always show up.

I love that VG.
I watched some clips today. There is an interview with Joe Buck and EV that fOx sports posted on facebook.
They would cut to clips of the band performing and one in particular shot stood out. The crowd screaming during the climax of jeremy.
That still gets me and its still a very cathartic release for me to this day. The band doesnt phone it in. They have limits due to age (mostly ed) but my god....they play their balls off and i feel it. Every time.
I could use another show. And more music.

There's a 10 second clip of Even Flow in this movie from 25 years ago in Chicago that they shouldn't have played because it made the rest of the performances look awful by comparison in like ten seconds. Oh my GOD IT WAS SO GOOD. It made me wish they'd show more of that performance.
But there was a lot of good in this movie.
I like the part where they talk about how Eddie's seventh inning stretch was the best seventh inning stretch ever. I hope one day Im rich enough to make a documentary about me like that.

Re: Let's Play Two: Live from Wrigley Field
yeah, i saw that interview..the movie features Ed a lot. And its nice, because its kinda like the old eddie..not the Vedder who needs to say something profound about the world, or the one who fears about his life...the 1992 passionate and happy eddie vedder. Its really nice.Strat wrote:I love that VG.

It was good just that old Even Flow footage was so amazing it always makes me sad how much Eddie fell and Dave A being replaced by Matt C. In 10 seconds you hear Dave and Eddie and it was incredible

This is the performance they showed a clip of in the movie.
Oh my god Dave A is so incredible.
Its like you watch this and you have to take back the good things you say about modern PJ. Because any time you ever praise a drummer like Matt C you watch this video and realize he is nothing compared to Dave.
There were some great performances in the movie but after hearing this I have to downgrade the movie performances to 'good' because this is truly incredible

I know everybody changes with age, and while they are still great, they were transcendent with Dave A and young Ed

Also I saw the show with two friends that like PJ but just know the hits. They both enjoyed it a lot, but the comments when we left were. "Oh my god when they showed that old footage of Even Flow! It sounded just like the album!!"
Yes they were most impressed by the ten seconds of footage they showed of that clip then all the rest of the full performances in the movie.
