I'm not a big Sandman fan, but I bought Sandman Overture the other day and it's amazing. I'd probably give more credit to J. H. Williams III than Gaiman though. The visual storytelling is great.

Spoiler: show: Its the first issue in the return of the Purple Man storyline. Jessica spends the entire issue talking about how bad it is not knowing when or where he’ll show up. Meanwhile, her toddler is speaking baby gobbledeegook and Jessica keeps trying to get her to say “mommy.” The panel before the last page shows the Purple Man saying something to her and on the last page we see it’s coming from her kid.
