Why does everyone assume that Ren is destroying his helmet when he smashes it into the lighted wall? I'm sure his helmet is strong enough to survive an impact with glass. He's just having one of his angry fits.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Because he smashed it into a lighted wall?

The shot does show him holding the helmet, a close-up of his face, and then smashing it into the wall. So unless we're being fooled by trailer trickery, it seems clear.

There was also a shot in the original trailer of the helmet smashed on the floor.

My guess is that this is his turning point of rejecting the past of Vader (perhaps he learned Vader still had good in him, and had saved Luke's life). He either completes his transition to the dark side, or turns to the good side and saves Rey.

Pure speculation of course.

If that helmet can't take being punched into a wall, he shouldn't have bothered wearing it in the first place.

He's super powerful in the force. His wouldn't be a normal punch. He's well able to smash the helmet.

It wasn't a theory. It was dialogue from the film from luke Rey and Snoke and kylo that ruins / gives away far too much. The action figures can talk if you have a force link wristband accessory. It's on makingstarwars.net if you wanna hear it. I'm not posting it here. Not worth the shit storm plus it really does give away some huge stuff.

Probably because of this shot from the first trailer:

Common Star Wars issue, though. Stomtroopers are consistently punched unconscious while wearing helmets.

Ok. Calling it. Luke sends Rey on a vision quest thing a la dagobah cave. She enters the tree and finds the books and then a voice speaks to her and looks up and Yoda appears to her. And all the dialogue she has in the trailer is actually to him. But she doesn't know Luke's relationship to Yoda and he doesn't tell her or anything and she just thinks he's a spirit of the tree in the force or something.

I'd love if something like this would happen.

Interesting. I was actually thinking that IF the stuff we see at the end of trailer 2 isn't a total misdirect (Kylo Ren really does extend his hand to a questioning Rey) it happens in a Force vision cave like what happened to Luke in Empire. That was my thinking. But I like your way, too. I'd be thrilled to see Yoda again. And to see him interact with Rey without her knowledge of who Yoda is/was would be fantastic. There's a ton of great opportunity there.

Maybe the rock Cracking is her seeing kylo extending the hand in her vision and that's her reacting to him?

Remembering the very first scene in the first teaser where she falls to the ground panting

Me too pal. Like I said though. A lot of our ideas about where it will go and what will happen are probably more satisfying than what we're actually gonna get.
All sorts of rumours almost confirming Yoda is in this. I would take him or Anakin or obi wan as a dream come true. But this is where tempering expectations comes in.
