What if this happened? a mole talked about Sirens Mym and another song on a pj web site. To find out who the mole is setlist was left in the open our mole takes pic while being taped by Ed and his 8mm. Mole is fired and pissed off leaks cc because it is on the new record and called Sirens piano has been added along with Mike solo in the first musical break down. Think of the strobe light lyric someone seams to die in cc so Sirens maybe a good title.

Is this some fantasy fiction or plausible story? I can't possibly go back through all the previous pages to get up to date.Tj wrote:What if this happened? a mole talked about Sirens Mym and another song on a pj web site. Re: Cold Confession and Let It Ride - Avocado Outtakes
I finally got a chance to listen to the tracks (thank you Mr Leon!)
My reaction thus far....eh.
Nice to hear Ed sounding a bit like his older self, but overall, I was a bit underwhelmed.
Let it Ride def has that Riot Act sound to it, which, while i enjoy that record on a personal level, is clearly their least successful (and i don't mean commercially). This kind of reminds me of In The Moonlight, but without that haunting Binaural tone. Instead Ed just sounds a bit tired. The Outro is what really kind of saves this song for me. Might have made a good closer to a record.
Cold Confession - again Ed sounding like his older self, but it has a bit more feeling to it than LiR. Nice percussion from Matt too. Very Crazy Mary vibe (the bridge is almost identical). It's pretty much a good B-Side/hidden song. I believe someone said it resembled the hidden song on LD only more fleshed out- i concur, but overall, not as overwhlemed as others have been on this board.
Overall, i think we just have to accept that their best songwriting days are likely behind them and loathe as i am to admit (bec he's such a fabulous drummer with soundgarden) it likely has to do with Matt's inclusion in the band. Binaural was the last time they've written anything that to me sounded inspired or challenging, and yes Matt was drumming, but Eddie basically admitted in the PJ20 book he didn't want Matt to get bored and not stay with the band, so he made it a point to purposely write songs like Grievance with the odd time changes and the like to keep him interested. Which ended up creating really really good music, because it fit what Matt does best (how killer was he on King Animal??). Every album afterward has been more straight forward rock which combined with the rest of the group doesn't seem to have that "it" factor we used to love. Which again, is so unfortunate. Jack may have been my least fav drummer (or maybe Krusen?) but at least he was allowed to bring his tribal beats into the recording studio that gave us classics like In My Tree and Given To Fly and Who You Are.
In the meantime, I'm enjoying MYM, mainly because I'm not over listening to it or expecting a 'come back' record or 'the old pearl jam' in any way. I'll wait until LB is out before sampling anything else and just enjoy it for what it is. Good music. Not great.

Foil Hat Moment....
Listened to the Avocado Sampler today and I have an observation concerning CC/Let it Ride.
All of the Avocado rough mixes had no fade or any of the endings cleaned up.
Secondly the production (mixing, mastering, whatever) sound drastically different than both the Sampler and the final Avocado Album
I'm starting to think that these were worked on for a release (LD2, Lightning Bolt, something else) .

Re: Cold Confession and Let It Ride - Avocado Outtakes
I think there were several sessions involved in the making of S/T, starting in 04 and continuing throughout the following year. It's possible that these are from one of the earlier sessions than the mixes that eventually became the Avocado record. It would make sense, considering these sound closer to Riot Act than what eventually ended up on the record.Thejambi wrote:Foil Hat Moment....
