My understanding is that's why he's partnered with the NY AG: because the POTUS can't pardon offenses charged by the state.

I read somewhere yesterday (WaPo? The Hill? Can't remember, but it was a legit outlet) that one of the NY state attorneys with whom Mueller has partnered has a history of bringing charges against family members as a way of compelling the principle to start cooperating; the article suggested that family members of both Manafort and Flynn could be charged on Monday.

In theory, if Manafort or Flynn have been reticent to implicate Trump, the fear of seeing an immediate family member in prison could sway them.

It's still very possible that Donald Trump is not in direct legal danger, and won't be. But his children and son in law appear to be a very different story, which would explain his rage and which potentially has/will open him up to obstructive decisions.

If Jared or Don Junior are in real legal danger, I don't believe he has the personality to standby and do nothing. He will destroy himself or derail the entire experiment to prevent it.
