I had the reverse effect with Riot Act. At first i loved it, after a few years i was bored with the weak guitars and Eddie spoken messages.

I do love Cant Keep and You Are.

Riot act was shat on for a long time and now continues to enjoy a renaissance.

Same will be true of Backspacer.

Just watch.
There's no way in hell.
If this was true, wouldn't everyone love S/T by now?
S/T isn't half as bad as this board seems to suggest.

Can't keep-I am mine-thumbing my way-help help-1/2 full-arc-all or none.

That's an EP Pj should have released. The rest is forgettable entirely.

Indeed, it's actually twice as bad.

Riot Act only seemed to improve to a certain point. Most wouldnt put it above many of the early albums.

It did bother me for awhile that the best song was the first song on the album. That's one of my irrational hatred's, I think.

There's several songs I still really like on Riot Act, even really dig Bushleaguer for some reason. But, listening to this album from start to finish is a bit of a slog.

The thing about RA is that the good songs are really really good and the bad songs are terrible.....Thumbing My Way is possibly the most boring PJ ever, Save You and I am Mine are very bland to me as well and LBC is just lame..."all you need is love" ??? really??...at first i hated Riot Act, especially after the release of Binaural(my 2nd fav PJ album) but since them ive grown to like songs more songs off the album...ghost, green disease, cropduster, help help

I think the RA renaissance was totally and completely down to how awful ST was. But maybe that's just me.

Riot Act is their last great album. But I've loved it since day 1. The (lack of) quality of ST has nothing to do with that.

The guitar work is vastly under appreciated . The main problem is production and clumsy effort all around by Ed. I would love a version of just the instrumentation of that album.

Sometimes in our TV news they refer to things with the number of likes on Facebook or mentions on Twitter. We've come a long way.

If you haven't already, go get the ST demos off gremmie.net

It made me love ST as of yesterday. You can hear TONS of stuff that isn't there musically on the album. It's wonderful.

I don't feel it's the quality of the subsequent record as much as it is having a new group of songs between yourself and the preceding record. New music moves a record past the " this is who they are now" mindset allowing a different mindset in evaluating that older record.

Thank you sir...The album is great musically, but to me its kinda like a album full of BSides, Life Wasted, Severed and Parachutes excluded

My only point is that what dime was saying about having a record between Backspacer is going to raise it's quality in the eyes of the fanbase here....that clearly didn't happen with S/T. So I don't think that's necessarily true.
