Houses of the Holy and III are both solid front-to-back listens.
Yeah HOTH is probably their most enjoyable listen.

I never listen to those two. I always loved I, IV, and PG in my teen LZ phase, though. Now I almost exclusively listen to Presence.

Huh? Who thinks you're a hipster?

And what's your problem with HOTH? It's like eight near-perfect songs.
I'm exaggerating a little bit for the sake of humor and the running gag of these tournaments tearing us apart. BUT... since you asked...

Houses of the Holy is kind of a boring record for me. I love two songs and the rest are... fine. I have no issue with someone loving the record though. That's where I'm exaggerating.

But in all honesty, the idea that it's "their most enjoyable listen" is completely absurd to me. I don't understand that argument at all. It's so easy to throw out IV because we're all so sick of it, even all these decades later. But there's a reason that record was so huge. To me it just feels very "hipster" or contrarian to dismiss their biggest record in favor of one that some people like and some people don't. It feels like it's Houses' turn to be the best Zeppelin album.

But again, that's on a macro scale. On an individual level, I believe you guys when you say that you individually love it and find it enjoyable.

Got ya. All I can say is that Houses has been my favorite Zep record for many years strictly because there are no songs I want to skip; I can't really say that about any other Zep album.
I get that. I've said the same thing about Presence for years. When I first got that record I told my friend, "I feel like I've always enjoyed Led Zeppelin... but now I'm a fan of Led Zeppelin. And then Presence had it's own "hipster revival" where only contrarians and those too cool for school liked it because it was the album no one liked. But I was there way before that happened. So, I totally get where you're at. If that's your Zep record, then that's your Zep record. No shame in that. Defend it to the death!

I think it speaks to how great the band were that they have so many albums that could be your favorite, y'know? Kind of amazing.

To me, IV is BY FAR the best Zeppelin album, followed by II.

When I haven't listened to Zeppelin in a while, and I get the itch, I go for the first record. So I guess that's my favorite.

I never knew HOH as considered a minor album or somewhat lesser than any of the first six where it could be described as a hipster album. I consider it near perfect outside of The Crudge. For my money Over the Hills and Far Away is the ultimate Zep song.

Wow, I can feel the seething anger from d,t. It's tearing me apart.

By "enjoyable" I meant front-to-back, consistently fun tracks. Nothing too idiosyncratic or epic. Several home runs, a few triples, a few doubles. Zero pop-ups. (Think I'm done with the baseball metaphor now).

Also, "The Crunge."

You could make arguments for several as far as their "best" but in all honesty, it's probably IV.

Or Physical Graffiti.

Or Presence.

Or II.

Man, they were good.
