That Cooks Illustrated cookbook I got is awesome. Everything from it has been great except the waffle recipe which is just ok. Highly recommend.

Which one? I've got most of them and love them. There's a BLT salad in one that's amazing.

I'm pretty much in love with it. So far I've made:

Simple Chili with Bacon & Black Beans
Jalapeno Cheddar Cornbread
Gruyere Beer Bread
Chicken Cacciatore with Sage & Portobellos
Chicken Tikka Masala
Cheesecake Brownies
Ultimate Fudge Brownies
Classic Blondies
Buttermilk Wafffles

and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting. My roommate also makes a bunch of baked goods from it. Once we get a food processor and stand mixer we'll be able to make a lot more stuff.

Anyone else got one? We got ours a couple months, have been using it like crazy. I've made greek yogurt like five times, carnitas, chili, lots more. It's #1 use is for setting up steel-cut oats before we go to bed, and having them warm and ready when we get up. Pretty awesome little device, and I feel like I've just scratched the surface of what I can do with this thing.

A friend of mine has been raving about hers, I need to check it out.

Yup. We use ours just about every day. This week we've done chili, apple crisp, a couple of chicken breasts for my work lunches, and pork chops twice.

I eat oatmeal almost every morning, so the overnight oats thing intrigues me.

The trick with the oatmeal thing is to set it so it's done cooking a bit before you think you'll be up. That way you're able to let it do the slow/self-release thing for 30 minutes while you get dressed or whatever. Like, if we want to eat at 730, I set it so it's done cooking by 7am.

Can you set it to do that when you go to bed, or do you have to get up and start it first thing in the morning?

No, you set it when you go to bed. It's a Manual mode, so you set it to cook for four minutes on high, but you set the timer for it to start cooking in X hours after you turn in.

Cool, I am definitely trying this.
