Re: Movie: Isle of Dogs (Wes Anderson)
I don't get how anyone could be so averse to animal death/suffering that they refuse to watch even fake depictions of it in movies.
They are animals. Animals die. We eat them all the time. What's the big deal? Why is it worse than seeing countless people die in movies?

Just out of curiosity, did any of the death(s) in Fantastic Mr. Fox bother you at all?tragabigzanda wrote:I hate when animals suffer in movies. The Argonaut wrote:Trag's post is the strangest post I've ever read.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Oh brother. I can’t handle animals dying in movies either, but I feel like Anderson’s characters are so humanized that I’m not bothered by it.

The difference being that people die all the time in movies. We’re more desensitized to it.LoathedVermin72 wrote:You're LESS bothered when they're humanized?!

Sounds like you're calling for more animal deaths in movies. That's fucked up.

Yeesh. Don’t put words in my mouth. All I’m saying is it’s a lot different to watch a claymation rat get stabbed than watching live action Old Yeller die.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Sounds like you're calling for more animal deaths in movies. That's fucked up.

Kind of interesting that Anderson ended up doing a stop motion animation like Kaufman's Anomalisa. This looks good though.

I like when dogs are depicted like Keith Richards . Then you don't know which side of the rail they're walking down and neither do they
