I had the reverse effect with Riot Act. At first i loved it, after a few years i was bored with the weak guitars and Eddie spoken messages.

I do love Cant Keep and You Are.
Weak Guitars on Riot Act? Maybe on a couple songs but Ghost, Half Full, All or None, Help Help have some of Mikes best work...I think RA is one of the best sound PJ albums behind Vitalogy and Yield

Yeah, the guitar work in S/T is wonderful. Also, Matt is a beast. Again.

With RA...some of the songs there need more work, specially from Ed. And those guitars...and yeah, its difficult to listen to the whole album without skipping some songs ( im looking at you Crodpduster! and you Get Right)

Funny that you mention Cropduster. Are you saying the guitars are weak in it? Or you're just bored by it? Pretty sure Mike's been quoted as saying that is one of the most difficult songs to play.

Kinda both..i think they need another tone maybe? i want more agression from them, specially at the end were you can hear a hint a great fucking song there.
But mostly im bored by it, its dad´s rock all the way. And those live version from the 03 tour were worse.

Mike said that about Cropduster? are you thinking Evacuation maybe?

"Cropduster" is the opposite of what people mean when they say "dad rock".

Nope. He may have said it about Evacuation too, but I'm pretty confident he's said it about Cropduster.

Yeah, that's one of the last terms I think of while listening to Cropduster.

Weird, i didnt know that...i also dont like the lyrics. RA have some great lines and some of the weakest lines in PJ´s history.
I still remember Eddie´s quote on the PJ20 book about a Michael Stipe conversation he had were Stipe told him to write a great record.

I'm not a big fan of the lyrics to "Cropduster", especially the second verse ("daddy's gone up in flames"), but the music is ten kinds of wonderful. That version from last year's Canadian tour... Hamilton, was it?... was really great.

I hated Cropduster for awhile. I've come a long way on it, really dig it now. The music is pretty fantastic.

Honestly, it's a dumb term meant to disparage music that is not perceived as "hip" enough. Most people use it to refer to inoffensive MOR type stuff, from what I can tell.

It's getting so bad that Eddie thought the crowd at Wrigley wanted to hear Bugs.
