The Last of Us is really good. A gaming rut in the summer is not uncommon. Not a ton of new stuff coming out. Check out the bargain bins for games you may have missed the first time around.
i'm probably just being thick-headed, but the Last of Us never appealed to me. Zombies and escort missions are some of my least favorite things.
Did you play it? It's not an escort mission. The AI characters defend themselves. It is more of a personal story than your typical zombie fare. A lot of enemies are human as well. The motion capture, voice acting, and characters really bring it over the top for me.

Yeah, the production quality alone makes this game worth experiencing. You should do the Mass Effect trilogy as well.

I've become tired of all of the zombies in pop culture but this game really nails how a "zombie" apocalypse story should be told.

i love this game!
i just started playing the Game Of The Year edition since I hadn't played any of the dlc before. it's probably one of my favourite games and i find it has a lot of replay value
Tried to start Oblivion: GOTY, but keep coming back to Fallout. I'm on the Mothership now, and the only issue I'm running into is slow framerates. Hopefully it'll clear up when I'm back in the Wasteland.
yup, my one big problem with the game is the constant glitches/freezes/slow-downs.. i've lost a lot of progress because the game will suddenly freeze
PS3?

the freezes were incredibly infuriating. for me it almost always happened while walking the wasteland so i would save often when travelling long distances.
ya PS3... although i also had the original for xbox 360 and remember it also being pretty glitchy...
i look forward to if/when they ever release fallout 4

i hope the next installment is a single player RPG and not the MMORPG that was being teased at a few years ago. i don't have time for those kinds of games and it would be a shame to miss out on a new Fallout.

The collectibles are fun, but there are a shit ton of them. Did you pick many up during the main story?

I'm really looking forward to Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag. Assassins Creed III was a great game and it really showcases how far this series has come since the first game, but by far the most enjoyable part of that game was the naval battle side missions. I was heartbroken when i completed them halfway through the main storyline and told my wife that they should make a whole game out of the naval sequences...and it looks like they have.

It does indeed look cool. I still feel like this series is missing something that makes it special. It has a ton of features, collectibles, and serviceable combat but there is no soul to it. It is hard to explain.

The story tends to be a muddled mess of psuedo-history and overly cartoonish historical figures that I find it a bit tedious to follow, but the value of the series for me is in the setting and atmosphere. When I hop in the Animus I feel like i'm wandering the streets of colonial New England or renaissance Florence. I get a real sense of being there, and that that world would go on existing and the NPC's would continue to go about their business whether i was there to witness it or not. Much like GTA IV i can spend hours just moving around in that world and taking it all in, whether it's parkouring around historic cities or mowing down pedestrians.

I agree about the setting. My other problem is with the running/climbing mechanic. I can't tell you how many times I've been running and will run by a building and my character will start climbing when I don't want to or vice versa. It sounds nitpicky but this is a major gameplay flaw for me. There should really be a separate button to run and climb for a game with so much climbing.

I enjoyed the Ass Creed games too, but I also feel that they've been lacking the last couple outings (Revelations, ACIII). ACIII was cool, and there were some really awesome parts, but I felt a lot of it was kind of a drag (too much stuff to do, not enough of it fun). ACIV does look pretty rad though.

After 80 hours with Fallout 3, I think it's time for a break! Next time I sit down, I will probably start Uncharted 2.

I finished the main story a few weeks back and have been doing the side mission stuff. I'm pretty much left with all the Riddler stuff, and it's a little frustrating finding them all.

I think I'm going to move onto Dishonored next. I bought it a while back but just never got around to playing it. I need something to pass the time until the new GTA and Batman games, as well as the new systems.

Dishonored is great. Especially playing through it without killing anyone.

Started playing it about 2 weeks ago and am 70% through or so
Spoiler: show
Just brought down the Lord Regent via playing his confession on the audiograph instead of taking him down. I was really surprised by how short that mission was compared to a few of the ones earlier in the game...it seems like that would be a peak to the story, but I finished that one in under an hour. strange...

excited to see how i deal with Doud next
Normally I'm not a huge first-person rpg/action/adventure gamer, but I am really liking this one...yet, still don't have the desire to ever play Skyrim

Thinking of DLing Bully on PSN to prepare me for GTA V

Never got a chance to play it but heard really good things about one of Rockstar's lesser known titles

What's the best racing game for ps3? Somewhere in between GT and Burnout, maybe?
