Me too. I didn’t get the impression that anyone was being racially uncool, just that we expect the song to blow goats. Actually I expect that the movie will be terrible too but that has nothing to do with the ethnicity of the actors.

Not gonna point anyone out, and definitely not gonna use the R word cause I don't think it applies. But, any knee jerk "ehh this movie looks like it sucks and why are they involved with something like this" is definitely going to hit my radar. The mere mention of it struck an immediate chord in me, like "any time they tap into a culture that I share that's a big moment for me personally" and to see "huh? what? Hah this looks funny in a strange way and doesn't seem to fit them" is just ..... iffy. Like why any knee jerk response? (to which I openly admit to having , but in an extremely positive way). We know next to nothing except the following: it's a movie with a romantic twist, 2 different races, strong ethnic twist, maybe comedic, maybe a musical, etc. All things that do not exactly scream straight white male to me. So, what exactly is it that provokes any response, especially ones that appear let down by the whole concept, given what we know only from the poster and that little trailer? I'm just curious, just seems .... iffy. Again, it's the exact opposite for me, where my positive reaction is mainly based on the same limited information - and that positive reaction stems purely from the ethnic flavor of this thing.

For the record, Eddie's collaboration with Nusrat was fantastic. I would take more of that any day.

if this is what's being referred to, i was pointing to the fact that this looks like a cheesy Lifetime TV movie that would air at 10am. no matter what race. but hey, EV did contribute to that shitty Eat Pray Love movie, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Here's the movie premise
A scientist (Brie Larson) creates genetically modified rice with her father (Scott Bakula), and their boss (Donald Sutherland) sends them to India to sell it to rural farmers.[1]
Sounds GREAT

Can they take a picture of what the song sounds like?

There is zero chance any song with that title could be even a little good

Seriously. This is going to be bad. I’m not even excited at all, which makes me a little sad. I used to get so excited for every bit of music these guys released. Now I just expect to feel at best indifferent to new songs, and at worst embarrassed.

What it's actually the long rumored "Owner of a Lonely Heart" from the 1991 sessions?

I agree, this has the potential to be a quantum leap in anglo-indian cultural understanding.
