I'll get the game eventually. Probably not this week or next week or the week after that. We'll see. And then I'll spend most of my time with the game doing the story mode. I can't imagine going online with it any earlier than like... I don't know... July 2018. If then. But if I do ever make it online, I'll probably play around 8pm EST.

Nah, all the special editions for this game are just including lame stuff like outfits and emotes. I believe that the pre-order of any edition gets you some unique star cards (abilities), but the more I'm reading the more it sounds like their star card and hero system are a major cash grab. I was upset about this for a few minutes, but I'll just accept that this game will be good for some pewpewing with friends, while Battlefield 1 will continue to be my deep strategy FPS.

I have a feeling they will tone down the amount of time it takes to unlock a hero. The feedback for the system has been universally negative.

They just announced they are lowering the "cost" of heroes by 75%.

Nice! Big improvement.

They were just seeing what they could get away with it. Gamers weren't having it.

Yeah, but they also dropped the reward rate by 75% so it's still relatively shit. Boycotting and refunds are still rife on reddit.

you 'purchase' them with earned in-game credits, from what i understand. though you can buy loot crates outright with real money too. so that definitely fucking sucks. i'm hoping the pay-to-win doesn't ruin this for everyone else.

i'm on pretty randomly. usually weekend mornings or afternoons and the occasional early evening during the week.

Ugh, reports now that while they slashed the cost of heroes by 75%, they neglected to report that they also dropped the rewards you can earn by a large margin; also that some people are having difficulty returning their pre-bought games. This is highway robbery. I'm gonna wait to purchase until EA gets their head out of their ass.

Game Informer just gave it a 6.5/10; check out this quote:

"Even if a player spends a day playing the game to earn credits to buy a couple of crates, they may walk away with unwanted things like emotes or victory poses rather than cards that help their cause."

EA is doing an AMA today, so we'll see what that brings.

This is all pretty disappointing but I'm still going to be get it on Friday. I gave up the dream of trying to unlock a bunch of things in these types of games long ago. I just want to be a stormtrooper and shoot shit.

early reviews i've read are saying the game itself is good and improves on a lot of the shortfalls of the last one, but the progression system is completely fucked and is more or less stripped from a free to play mobile game.

if it ends up being that bad i can probably sell it in a week or 2 for what i paid, or just keep it for the offline story & co-op modes and hope that they fix the MP down the road. .
