I gotta say, all this apologetic justification for Franken's actions is really fucking disgusting.

Okay. She reluctantly agreed to rehearse a kiss for a comedy bit, planning to back away at the last minute. Why did Franken decide it was cool for him to forcefully shove his tongue into her mouth? How is that part of the bit? How is it cool to take a picture joke-groping this same woman WHILE SHE IS ASLEEP?! Do you really have no empathy for this woman? For how humiliating and dehumanizing that must have felt? To have already felt violated by that kiss, then to later find out he did this while you weren't even awake? What if it were your wife? Daughter? Mother? That doesn't make you feel at all upset? You don't see how that would make someone feel angry and violated and disgusted and belittled? Really? If that were my wife in that picture, I would want to fucking murder Franken.

Murder? Really? I hope you are just exaggerating or do you really think this man deserves to lose his life for what he did? That kind of reaction scares the crap out me. Why are you more offended than the victim herself? She has accepted his apology, why can't you? Overreaction can discourage a woman just as much as disbelief. The majority of us don't want revenge, we want change.
As one of the few women on this board I have been mostly encouraged by how you guys have been discussing this topic, you're proof to me that men can change and be better but please keep some perspective, let the punishment fit the crime.

No, I don't want to kill Al Franken. What I was saying was that if some douchebag took a picture of himself groping my wife while she was asleep, my visceral reaction would be that I would want to kill him. Just trying to get across that his actions weren't as harmless as trag was suggesting.
