Can somebody point me to a quality manual can opener?

Post by Self »

One that'll last and is in my price range? The best I found is the old standard one; all metal. But those wear out pretty quickly, too.

I nearly sliced the top of my finger off with a defective manual can opener.

I've had the OXO Good Grips can opener forever. That thing has been through two marriages with me. Similar to this, although mine looks a little different because of its' age.

Those look suspiciously like the ones I throw out after trying once, Ruddo. But I trust you and will give them a try.
These are the type I've had the best luck with.

Perhaps you are eating more canned goods than I, therefore the wear and tear?

Maybe. How many cans would you say you've opened since you got this deluxe manual can opener?

I have never even come remotely close to having a can opener wear out on me. Do you work at a soup kitchen or something?

I don't know, maybe a couple of cans a week on average? Are you guys telling me your can openers just open cans for years on end without wearing out?
Maybe it's me? I have a fuck of a time with plastic wrap too.

the plasticwrap issue is a guy thing, what's wrong with an electric can opener?

I will vouch for this can opener as well. I lost it once moving and was dismayed and bought another. rock solid. has never dulled.

My last can opener wore out. I don't think it was a very good one.

That's right around when the ones I've had fail.
Maybe I'll listen to malice and just get an electric one...and leave the plastic wrap to my wife.
