The point is that you're not pointing to a specific technique and saying "show me another song that does this"; you're saying "show me another song that does this WELL", which is a meaningless subjective assessment. Basically what that means is that NO SONG ANYONE POSTS will satisfy your criteria unless it is a song you like as much as, or better than, "Better Man". You see? It is a waste of time. There are hundreds if not thousands of songs that employ that trope, and we could list them here one by one, but because your criteria for what it means to "do it well" is so vaguely defined, it all comes down to whether you like it or not. Am I getting through to you at all?mikejasond wrote:Not necessarily. Why don't you try?theplatypus wrote:What is the point? Literally any song that anyone could post as an example, you will respond to with "yeah that's good but Better Man does it better".mikejasond wrote:And Im still looking for one example of a song that does what Better Man does as concisely as Better Man does it.

One of the greatest most masterfully-made three chord pop rock songs in history.Strat wrote:its a three chord pop rock song for fucks god sake. geezes.
Again , I can't think of many songs with as little repetition as Betterman. Most songs you get verse chorus, then the same verse the same chorus, then a solo or middle section, then back to the chorus. ESPECIALLY pop songs.
Betterman never repeats itself one time. It is a constant build, a climax and then it soars and falls.

What part of the song sounds like another part of the song?
Its like you guys do not listen to other rock songs.......
You really can't see the difference between say...the first and second verse of betterman, vs....the first and second verse of Highway to hell, or Sweet child of mine, or crazy train, or freebird even?
Those verses are equally identical in your mind as Betterman's verses?

HECK even just the choruses. I cant think of another song off the top of my head (NOT SAYING THEY DONT EXIST SINCE IM SURE THEY DO) where the first chorus is sung softly/sweetly/delicately, and the second chorus loudly/rocking out. Can you name some? Im sure they must exist but every song coming to mind the choruses are sung identically.

Re: Song of the Moment: Betterman
Now we're talking. I don't know this song. And honestly I wonder if this song is ripping off Betterman. It sounds very influenced by it. Pretty good song though.
I still think betterman is better. In the Creed song, by the second chorus they seem to just sort of tread water afterwards.
Is there one that doesn't just start repeating the chorus?
Because the other cool thing about Betterman is by that second chorus you never hear the chorus again. Youre off into new territory again and you never come back.

Re: Song of the Moment: Betterman
Lets put it this way. There is no two 20 second sections in Betterman you could snip out and not know EXACTLY where in the song you are. Even if you ignored the lyrics. Not true of most songs.
