Albums of 2018

Post by Brett »

It's stupidly early to be starting this thread, I'm sure, but since some artists have already announced and/or talked about new stuff coming up, I figured why not.

Inspired mainly by the announcement that Ought's third album, Room Inside the World, is coming out February 16 on Merge worldwide and Royal Mountain in Canada (they announced partnering with those labels last month, marking a quiet end to their tenure with Constellation).

Here's lead single "These 3 Things":

I must have gotten the code to embed the album by mistake. Oh well, it's fixed now.

A couple of recent interviews with Kevin Shields and Colm Ó Cíosóig suggest that a new My Bloody Valentine album is on the way, growing from initial plans for an EP. Of course, with these guys you never know until the thing is on sale, but here's hoping.

There is only one album that matters in 2018 and that's TURBO GRFX 16. Now close this thread. Actually also looking forward to albums from:

Pusha T-King Push

New Tool hopefully

Solo Andre 3000 album hopefully

Guns n Roses hopefully

Vampire Weekend

First 2018 release on Constellation is the second solo album from Efrim Manuel Menuck (of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Thee Silver Mt. Zion), Pissing Stars.

Here's "LxOxVx / Shelter in Place":

Seems like it will be dense accumulations of guitar and synth noise with mantra-like vocals (at least on this track).

She recorded an acoustic/stripped down version of her most recent record. I hope she drops that version in 2018. I'd love to hear how these songs sound all naked and quiet.

You really should. I can tell you it sounds even better on wax. The vinyl almost has to be a different mix than Spotify. It just sounds so full and dynamic. I highly recommend it.

This actually intrigues me quite a bit. While im definitely loving the actual release, I think being able to get lost int he simplicity of the basics arrangements would really drag me in.
