The flaws were more noticeable this time around, but the strengths far outweigh any minor gripes. The stuff I didn't care for, first...

Leia being blasted out into space, surviving, and floating back to the ship was stupid. Perhaps it felt more out of place because although we've seen her Force-sense things in the movies, we've never really seen her do something so obviously 'magical'. But it just felt ridiculous.

I wasn't overly keen on the Finn/Rose story either. They're both fantastic in the role but it just left me a bit cold.

Everything else, I LOVED. I'll just list the super awesome badass moments for simplicity:

1. Luke taking the lightsaber from Rey, only to casually toss it over his shoulder. Giving no fucks :haha:
2. Rey chopping down the massive rock which then wiped out those funky caretaker creatures' stuff!
3. Kylo Ren in every scene. Dude is the MVP of the series for me so far. His conflict, his rage...
4. ...his MURDER of Snoke, who was made out to be the big bad villain of this saga but totally got his ass handed to him with one blast of the lightsaber.
5. That battle in Snoke's HQ with Kylo and Rey teaming up like the badass mofo's they are. What a team they would make!
6. R2D2 laying the guilt trip on Luke by playing the old message of Leia from ANH.
7. Finn rising back up on that platform with his casual 'Hey' to Phasma before knocking her ass down.
8. Finding out Rey's parents were just randomers who sold her like a cheap whore for booze. Rey isn't special because of her lineage, she's special just because she is. She's Rey and she's awesome and I love her dearly.
9. YODA!!!!
10. ASTRAL PROJECTION!!! I was laughing the first time I watched because Luke was suddenly and immortal God-type man but then it turns out he's still chilling out on the island and it became even more awesome. He died just like Yoda did, at peace and on his own terms. Poetic.

Anyways, I don't know where it ranks but it's up there for sure. Perhaps a bit long and one of the stories didn't fully click with me, but other than that it was a wonderful experience. So, will Rey become a grey jedi? She defeats Kylo and the First Order and brings balance because she can harness the light and dark side? Who the hell knows, but I can't wait to find out.
I agree with pretty much all of this.

I’m not 100% sure but
Spoiler: show
i hate the Leia in space but too but the new canon suggests she’s even more powerful in the force than Luke and is the one that should have been trained. So that moment could be seen as total survival instinct and the force protecting her. It’s depicted horribly and will never make sense. It’s Mary Poppins in Star Wars!! But it’s Leia. It’s Carrie. I think people will forgive it given enough time and in what happens next

That's what I love about this movie. This didn't follow the "big round space station, let's blow it up" template. This is something different, and there are multiple simultaneous story arcs at play. There are echoes of both ESB and ROTJ, but not overboard to the extent that TFA did with ANH.

Fucking hell, only 2 years to enjoy this before we get a conclusion to this trilogy.

Just came out.

Its a better movie than TFA but i need to think about some stuff.
Spoiler: show
didnt quite liked the comedy and the digital world reminded me of the prequels....it seemed weird and off. Hamill was amazing..why kill luke? I hated that. Also, i kinda hate that snoke is dead too..the bad guy now is kylo? Kinda meh.

I'm hoping that Luke has involvement as a force ghost in EP IX. I mean, who else can train Rey?

It did kind of have a prequel vibe, but I sort or dug it. Some of the jokes fell flat but most hit and didn't distract me too much.

Fuck.
Spoiler: show
Overall what a goddamn ride. I hung on every scene feeling it was absolutely necessary to the overall story. Everyone in this film gives it their all and is absolutely fantastic.

I dont even know where to begin. There is so much to fucking unpack.

Adam Driver is amazing.

I thought all of the jokes were just right and I found myself laughing. i dont think any of it felt cheesy and it all made sense in the scene.

I wanted more from Luke just because he's luke. But im settling into his story here. Sitting with it. I really just wanted to see him battle and kick everyones ass. But as i sit here with those feelings and reminiscing about what he actually did to 1) save the day and 2) ultimately advance the story for Rey.... What a way to go. That is fucking powerful. My god. We haven't seen any other Jedi become THAT before. Sure we've seen force ghosts but for him to project himself from another planet? Holy shit THAT is badass. And the way he mocks Ben.

God, what is going to happen with Ren and Rey??? I honestly didnt know how the throne room scene would play out. Killing Snoke was shocking, amazing, and depressing at the same time. He was a frightful character and every scene with him was a hit. I will miss seeing more of him.

I didnt know if Rey and Ren would actually join forces. That is a testament to the writing and the overall movie. I really couldnt predict anything.

Also killing off Phasma? Geezes. They are getting rid of a lot of big characters! Or at least ones i thought would be....

I dont want to see Luke go. I really hope he is in Episode 9 in some way. Mark Hamill was absolutely incredible.

So, rey's parents are junkies huh? Hmm. I never really cared too much who her parents were and all that jazz so im actualyl fine with it. However, why is she so goddamn powerful? Luke still didnt really train her. She has had no formal training but ltos of real life "on the job" experiences. I suppose that is the best training one can have! But seriously.....how? why? What now? Who trains her?

Also, Lei floating in Space. That didnt work for me. I get she is a skywalker but that was just.....well...it could have been done much better.

The porgs were fine. Chewie was great. I still dont think R2 had originally loaded onto the Falcon in TFA so....not sure how he ended there.

"Killing" off Luke, as much as I didnt want to see him go, really did make this trilogy not about the old characters and i think that is a great thing. This story really is about Kylo, Rey, Finn, and Poe. They are great characters and i can't wait to see the conclusion.

I dont envy JJ.

Also, the kid jedi? He did use the force to grab the broom off of the wall, right?

That was weird and out of left field. Im not sure what it all means.

What happened?

Overall - Im confused. Its a different Star Wars. Very different. I didnt love it immediately as I wanted to but i think that is a good thing. So much going on in this film. Im glad that im stumped and thinking about it.

Also
Spoiler: show
YODA!!!! yes. That was great. His wisdom to Luke was fucking fantastic and I love how fucking wise he still is.

The little call backs to A New Hope with R2 playing the original recording, Yoda calling Luke out for being a bit of a spazz at heart...

Also, i dont think they really explored why the jedi should end as much as.....it seemed they intended to? I mean, it was afew lines of dialogue in his"Teachings" to Rey but i dont feel it was fully explored.
