On my first viewing I’d agree with all of that.

Now, what I didn’t like works to make it great.

This will be a divisive movie.

Isn't that just the scene from the movie?

Watch it.
Sound helped. I usually watch RM without sound.

I know I'm probably generalising, and obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but most of the people who are complaining and saying they hate the film just don't seem to...get it? Like, the stuff going on in the film has gone completely over their heads. People seem to be freaking out because it goes against what they take for granted as traditional Star Wars mythology. I think they're just far too protective over the OT, and can't accept that while the new films have the old characters in them it's not primarily about them. Ultimately, it's about a new cast of characters.

How can anyone be angry at what happened to Luke? It was fucking perfect, and he came out of it all looking like a God. Astral projection from one planet to another?? Dude is a fucking badass, and then died at peace on his own terms just like Yoda did. And he did it while staring out at the double sunset, in the same way we first meet him in ANH. It's fucking perfect.

One can disagree or be disappointed with how Luke was portrayed and his overall character arc, but it is hard to argue that it wasn't masterfully done.

All I can see is people on the forums I’m on and podcasts I listen to all saying the same thing.

First reaction losing their minds about hating it. And then coming around to it and loving it on the next.

Some folks take a few spins to land and absorb. This is one of them.

I didn't find that offensive, or else I would probably have removed it (from the list of recent IMDB reviews, it was not my review). But I guess people see things different ways.

My only problem with it is
Spoiler: show
all the characters saying “Godspeed.” In galaxy with the Force that’s far, far away and a long time ago, to use such an earthly, Christian originated phrase took me right out of the movie.

I don't know what that's about, but it made me laugh anyway.
what little I've read about comments from the fans made this funny as well.

Yes, I agree with this. Adam Driver is fantastic as Kylo Ren.

This was an incredibly fun film to watch. Rian Johnson is a great director. Was pleasantly surprised by all the goofy comedy, as I've become tired of taking this shit too seriously. The younger, more Star Wars-obsessed version of me probably would be whining about it. Hamill and Driver both gave fantastic performances. Plenty to pick apart if one is so inclined, but it's a Star Wars movie in 2017 & it did what I needed it to do.

7/10

Spoiler: show
The Yoda appearance was a big surprise & I was so glad it wasn't spoiled for me. The puppet looked amazing. Didn't love the Leia Force flying, but loved that they went for it. I'm all about the risk-taking throughout this even when it didn't totally work, especially since JJ took almost no risks. Glad they killed Snoke too. Amazing scene.
