Song of the Moment: Gone

3 stars is about right. If the mood hits me it can rise to a 4, but it's not consistently there.

I don't mind the lyrics, but Ed can't quite put himself inside these characters like Springsteen can

i dig it too but Gone just never gets off the ground for me.

And I can't figure out why. It just doesn't have that magic thing that a lot of Ed's tunes have. I don't get it, but it just doesn't.

I really the song writing on Self Titled though.

For the longest time I thought “letting go of it all” in the chorus was Eddie enunciating the word Gone....like “this tiiiime III....AMM GAWWWEEAYAWWWWHAAAAWWWWNNNNN”

I still like to pretend that’s what it says because it was one of my favorite moments

Always loved this one and could never understand it being as widely panned as it seems to be.

Gone gives me a similar feel to In Hiding, which I also love. Also super into what the band did with Ed's demo.

Like the verse melody/performance a lot. The pre-chorus melody/performance is solid. Hate the chorus melody/performance a lot.

The AOL sessions was a good solo ed performance:
