Yeah he was awesome. And it really mirrored real life in a way. The unqualified asshole will always get ahead (Hux) but will depend on and take credit for the far more qualified underling who should really be his job.

I thought he would make a better hux! Though i get that this sequel is focusing on a younger generation who are all just coming into their power and finding their place in the galaxy. This is also why a lot of their decisions don't make sense. I have a feeling it will all come together in episode 9. Its almost like watching LV discuss his tastes in movies. Some day he will learn. WE all do.durdencommatyler wrote:One of the best characters of that class in the franchise.stip wrote:I really liked that first dreadnought commander. I would have liked a bit more of him

It is kind of funny how TFA got so much flack for repeating so many star wars tropes. Now the last jedi goes quite a different route and a lot of the complains and ideas of how each story should have gone...m.irror what weve seen in star wars so many times.

Finn and Rose story is weaker, yes. But we all mostly agree on that.
And also, this is stillt he middle part of the saga! Reserve some judgement until we see the completion of the story!

I guess I have a hard time with you making declarative statements that "movies are not stories" or "movies are more than stories" without acknowledging that the majority of society (and the dictionary) define them as a series of moving pictures that tell a story.
Wouldn't you say the vast majority of movies tell some sort of a story? Stories don't define the medium by any means, but they provide a basic framework.

I think they arc or story or whatever was weak, and most of what happened with Poe was misleading just because they need it for the audience.

The majority of society also thinks TFA is a good example of filmmaking, so forgive me if I don’t give them much credibility.Monkey_Driven wrote:That's fair.LoathedVermin72 wrote:When did I say they’re stories? I'm not arguing about what is "good" or not. I'm asking why your definition of a film is the "correct" definition compared to others.LoathedVermin72 wrote:The majority of society also thinks TFA is a good example of filmmaking, so forgive me if I don’t give them much credibility.Monkey_Driven wrote:That's fair.LoathedVermin72 wrote:When did I say they’re stories? It's not weird or wrong though. TFA does many things right, and it took the right path in many ways. Most people loved it, and it's got a really good rating everywhere. The worst parts of the movie were when they tried to copy the original, and only did it worse, much worse. Starkiller Base might be the worst idea in all of Star Wars, and that's saying something. This is a trap that Rogue One and TLJ obviously could have fallen into as well, but didn't. Rogue One did its own thing, and still got some criticism for going to too many worlds etc. TLJ however, basically throws TFA and Star Wars history off a cliff, and does something totally different. It's not like if you didn't like Starkiller Base, you can now not think that TLJ does most things wrong.Strat wrote:It is kind of funny how TFA got so much flack for repeating so many star wars tropes. But my point is, the arc's aren't complete, their transformation is not complete but this episode absolutely moved the characters forward. And i also agree that Finn's story was a little weak though I believe him killing Phasma will cement his pale firmly on the side of the resistance. he's had the tendency to run away and not be fully commuted tot he cause in both of the films. I believe in episode 9 that will change and its all due in part to his adventures in this episode. He feasted his eyes on canto bight and originally was in aw of the place until Rose explained to him what this place all means in the greater galaxy of star wars. He witnessed the dichotomy between the two class systems on that adventure which then begin to influence his decisions moving forward.
