You're a dork AND you're wrong. Kenobi played it safe because they had children to protect and the odds were heavily stacked against them with two very powerful sith in the prowl. He did what he had to and was there when luke came of age. He didn't give up.

Im not a fanboy. THe prequels fucking suck and Rogue 1 is overrated (though fantastic!). This narrative that someone who loves the new trilogy is some drooling fanboy who spews hyperventilating bullshit is obnoxious.daft twat wrote:Breathe. Just breathe.Strat wrote:Obi Wan gave up. Yoda told him to go into hiding. Yes, he wached over a baby, but one of the most powerful jedi in the universe just decided to go live in a cave to watch over Luke? C'mon. He just destroyed the jedi killer that was grievous. At that point he was sent into hiding it was yoda, palaptaine, part Vader, and Obi Wan.Kaius wrote:Obi Wan never gave up. He was tasked with watching over and protecting Luke (from a safe distance). Luke's story does mirror Yoda's, however. It makes for it to as well, but I understand why it's a major point of contention
The jedi gave up because they felt shame. The Jedi gave up. Obi wan and Yoda gave up.
I have never felt more like a dork than now.

He gave up. You really think Yoda and Obi Wan couldnt have just kept on going after palpatine and 1/2 vader?Kaius wrote:You're a dork AND you're wrong. Ppl on both sides are tossing around the fanboy term. It's become meaningless.

Yoda and Obi-Wan probably could've taken on Vader and Palpatine. I'm sure they could've devised a plan to stage a 2v2 battle.

Kept on going doing what? Fighting them with laser swords? Yoda tried to defeat the Emperor and failed. Then all of the other Jedi were murdered. Then they had children to hide from the entire galaxy. I'll listen to Yoda "gave up" arguments to a certain point, but Obi Wan was being dutiful to the extreme, as he always does.Strat wrote:He gave up. Point is: You can spin any narrative you'd like with the little information we have that comes from these movies.
Ultimately it just becomes ridiculous and ends up becoming an argument about how we perceive the story so far and how we would like it to become.
And that is the fun of it all!
So lets drop the "youre a fucking idiot" and " i want to rape your mother" bullshit.
Also, fuck Obi Wan. He's a pussy.

Agreed. Also, I'm not mad at people who enjoyed or loved TLJ. I'm jealous. I wish I was with you in the same way I wish I believed in god. It must be nice. That said, I think the people in this thread who are the film's biggest proponents have been boorish about it.Kaius wrote:Ppl on both sides are tossing around the fanboy term. Idk man.... Yoda couldn't really hang with Palpatine. I don't think Obi Wan would have tipped the scales in their favor.Leatherhead wrote:Yoda and Obi-Wan probably could've taken on Vader and Palpatine. I'm sure they could've devised a plan to stage a 2v2 battle.

Yoda left that fight. He wasn't defeated. He felt defeated but he wasn't. He called for a pilot to take him out. Who else was left for them to battle? Storm Troopers? Lol. We all know how frightful stormtroopers were!Kaius wrote:Kept on going doing what? Fighting them with laser swords? Yoda tried to defeat the Emperor and failed. You had Vader reimagined as a robot "NOOOOOOO!!!" who could barely walk. Obi Wan defeated Anakin. Though, one could argue, he chickened out and didnt actually destroy him.
Who else was left? There were no jedis? As we know it the Jedi Temple was destroyed, the jedi's around the galaxy were destroyed from Order whatever....
All that was left at that point were Palpatine, Yoda, and Obi Wan.
Yoda and Obi Wan Left. They went into hiding. They walked away from the fight. Obi Wan had a new mission and that was to watch over the skywalker baby but he walked away from the fight. Perhaps if he didnt walk away fro the fight and him and Yoda teamed up to destroy what was remaining of the sith.... we wouldnt have the OT.
And thank god he went into hiding because holy shit i probably wouldnt have made it past the ripe age of 6 without it!

I've seen it once. I really enjoyed the movie. It wasn't perfect, but me and my 11-year-old daughter both had a blast. Initially, I liked where they took the story, and I was surprised to find so much attention on the (mis)handling of Luke Skywalker when I got online later that evening. Then I see even Mark Hamill though it was shit (in so many words). Now, he's just a guy, but I'm starting to understand the other perspective, and it has me wondering what could have been done better to bring more of the crowd to the light. Because I tend to think the ppl who liked the arc (and movie) would probably have liked it no matter which direction it went (to a certain standard of quality that is).daft twat wrote:Agreed.
