You clearly know a lot about SW. You approach it as a SW fan. I know a lot about movies and don’t care about SW as a property. We approach these movies from what I would consider opposing angles, so we’re never going to see eye to eye. We see different things in them and want different things from them.
Solid post.

Their appreciation has grown in time until they became cultural touchstones for two generations. RT or some other group has gone back to aggregate and measure the release reviews and I think Empire had something like a 67%. Decent, but not what it became.

History will be on TLJ's side, I think. And perhaps you'll some day be right about BvS or the Transformers, LV. The arc of history is long, but it bends towards justice

And again the question.

If you don’t like something why keep posting about it?

What? He isn't saying he doesn't like Star wars. He's saying he didn't like this movie for certain reasons. I don't like this movie that much, does that mean I can't post in here?

The movie was garbage. That being said, I’ll probably see it again this week.

I really need to see this again. I'm excited to see how much more I appreciate it the second time.

I felt that way too. It wasn’t my main complaint, but it did take me out of the action severaltimes.

Are there really people saying the prequels are better films than TFA & TLJ?

Exactly. I know this was about LV, but also applies to the rest of us. SW is like Pearl Jam to me. Something I will love for the rest of my life. When they release something great (Rogue One/Live At Benaroya), I will applaude and heap praise. If they release something more problematic (Lightning Bolt/TLJ), I will discuss and critique about the same amount.

What was supposed to be the greatest lightsaber battle of all time ended up happening on stupid cgi floating lava droids. Not to mention a hundred other face-palm-inducing decisions. I can’t believe that people are all of a sudden forgetting how dogshit the writing & directing of those were. The new ones ain’t Oscar-worthy scripts, I’ll grant you. But seriously, the prequels? Yeesh...

I was always a big fan of ROTS, it’s not something that suddenly happened after the release of TLJ. I don’t care about cgi. I think ROTS looks great. It has great characters, a lot of emotion, epic storytelling, an important story to tell. It’s original, and has fantastic acting and settings.

It's better than 1 & 2, but "fantastic acting" is a stretch.

Especially the two Scottish actors.
