My pal works in a cinema in the uk and they had two totally empty screenings of TLJ last night. Not one person. They’re taking it out of the screen and putting jumanji in. Wonder if it’s word of mouth isn’t as good or the online thing is taking a hold?

Yet it’s at $600 million globally. So weird.

I really need to see this again. I'm excited to see how much more I appreciate it the second time.

The more I watch it the more I like it but the weird jumps in tone are real hard lefts. A little jarring.

To Dime's point (I like the Achtung analogy) all three Star Wars movies were met with mixed responses when they first came out. Their appreciation has grown in time until they became cultural touchstones for two generations. RT or some other group has gone back to aggregate and measure the release reviews and I think Empire had something like a 67%. Decent, but not what it became.


History will be on TLJ's side, I think. And perhaps you'll some day be right about BvS or the Transformers, LV. The arc of history is long, but it bends towards justice

Out of all them empire was the most poorly reviewed. It confused an awful lot of people. Fans and critics alike. It also didn’t have anything like the repeat custom that a new hope did.

But the Vader reveal the overall darker tone and pretty much non ending added to all that.

Haha! Weirdly it didn’t bother George at all cos he anticipated that reaction to it and once it made its money back which it did quite quickly he didn’t care.

There’s a perfectly watchable copy of it out there. Saving me a fortune at the cinema. Though I am going again over Christmas. Probably a couple of times.

Here in Argentina both times i went the place was crowded and people loved it. I might go a third time maybe, but in a few weeks.
