Yeah, I giggled. Even if the reason is obvious if you just watch the movie, it's still a good joke. I like it.

I’ll go one further. He fetishes Vader (who wore a mask) yet berates Vader’s grandson for doing so.
Fetish envy. He has to be the biggest Vader fanboi, not kylo.

Something interesting about the Force Projection I read from another discussion on Birth.Movies.Death.

The person was stating how when projection Luke is stabbed by Ren, Island Luke flinches or grabs his side or something, like it affected him. Which would make sense since Ren and Rey force talk had them interacting (touch, raindrops)

Also, the person stated it was discussed throughout the movie how the force talking and projection is very hard to do, or exhausting? Rey says something about how could Kylo do it because it takes a lot of energy? (I can't verify this with my limited viewing of the movie)

Does this sound right? Makes the stuff a little more intriguing for me.

To me it looked like that blaster bolt hurt kylo when Rey first sees him and shoots him in their force Skype.

So, that leads me to wonder was real luke absorbing all the damage from the walkers bombarding him on Crait and he plays through the injuries but that’s what does him in?

Simpler explanation is best.

The sheer effort of doing it exhausted him beyond repair.

Kylo even says to Rey you can’t be doing this the effort would kill you.

So it’s very subtley foretold early In the film.

I'm on the fence about the heart attack. I thought that's what it was at first (he is clearly exhausted) but on subsequent viewings I think he just decides this is his time to let go. It may be that the exhaustion just made that idea more appealing.

Yeah there’s no heart attack. He just knows it’s time. He reignited the Jedi and rebellion. Job done.

I'm not entirely sure Luke is dead in the traditional sense. I think he might have transcended to a higher plane. Not a force ghost but something else. It seemed purposefully ambiguous. Like he will return as something.....or I'm wrong and he died by overexertion which is pretty lame.

Pals of mine have a Star Wars pod and they ran a a prediction quiz few weeks back, 40 questions of things we will and won’t see in the last Jedi.

Yeah I won it with 28/40 right.

I'm not entirely sure Luke is dead in the traditional sense. I think he might have transcended to a higher plane. Not a force ghost but something else. It seemed purposefully ambiguous. Like he will return as something.....or I'm wrong and he died by overexertion which is pretty lame.

It struck me as pretty similar to Yoda. I think they all transcend to a higher plane and can manifest as force ghosts (which are potentially more powerful than we previously realized). They don't just hang around as force ghosts all the time, right? Someone with more star wars mechanics knowledge may have a better sense of how that works.

the 'peace and purpose' line of Rey's speaks to that (whens he is telling Leia about what she sensed at his death, or better, his moment of exit)

That was just symbolic. We’re never gonna see that kid again probably but the point is there are force sensitive people out there. A new generation of Jedi will rise. And the rebellion reborn.
It’s very very on the nose no subtlety at all but it worked.

I like that scene more and more as I watch it.

It can’t be the falcon but I did think he was looking up at Finn and Rose jumping to hyperspace. It doesn’t have to be. Just symbolism.
