Mysterious autograph on a Mookie Blaylock shirt

Post by stackabones »

About 18 years ago I found a Pearl Jam Mookie Blaylock shirt at a thrift store. After I bought it, I noticed an autograph in the lower right front corner, but I can't figure out who it's from. Can anyone help me decipher it? Also, I've only seen white versions of this shirt, but the fact that the tag isn't dyed makes it seem like the shirt was manufactured this way.

If you don’t already know who that is, I’m not going to tell you.

Thanks for the welcome. I must confess that I know almost nothing about Pearl Jam, hence my ignorance. Please educate me on the signature!

I agree with Captain Termite, though that would be pretty sweet if the auto belonged to a basketball legend. (Awesome name, by the way. I got my Ph.D. studying termite behavior and control.)

We all agree that it's not someone from the band, though, right? Autograph notwithstanding, is this a desirable item?

I see:

4 C Havlik '92

I have no idea who that is, but that signature is definitely not john Havlicek's.

Where was the thrift store? That might help us narrow it down.

Maybe it's some artist from '92 lollapalooza?

I picked it up in Wisconsin. Not too far from lolla-land.

The tie-dye on your shirt has ruined it to me personally but would it be more valuable to others? Idk... that's what I'm wondering?

My dad always tells a story about how after an Astros game back in the 70s his friend Wade slipped into the area where players exit the stadium after games. My dad made a show of hounding Wade (who was decked out in Astros jersey and hat) for an autograph. Like clockwork, other fans followed suit and there are now a few W. Lawton signatures on Astros gear floating around there somewhere.

Maybe that's what happened here?

That's definitely possible.

Was this a gift for C Havlik? Why is there a "4" otherwise?

Could it be contorted to read "G (Garrett) Shavlik", drummer of The Fluid (the Sub Pop band of the same era)? Now I'm really reaching.

It's an original J.C. Havlik.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?
