Apparently not. There are folks I know "in the business" who are talking about how pissed Disney is about TLJ's backlash and there's even (allegedly) doubt in Rian's trilogy now. It's anecdotal for sure, but I haven't met a single person IRL who hated it. Some people were lukewarm about it, but the response seems to be mostly positive. Like anything else on the internet, the people that hate it are the loudest. I don't know a single "real life" person who hated the movie. I know some people who thought parts were weird. I know some that like R1 and TFA better. The anonymity of the internet and the just the very nature of it, allows people to be aggressively angry toward the film.
And that sucks because there are those that hated the movie and have valid criticisms but they just get swept up with the trolls and haters.
Most I have talked to have been lukewarm, a few loved it, and most aren’t interested in seeing it at all. Still I think imdb is a good judge.
