thats certainly a legit critique. I dont know that star wars works if it goes too dark (part of the appeal is the way it can and does appeal to all ages simultaneously- Empire shies away from long term consequences as well) but as a film (rather than a star wars film) leaning in more to those themes would have made it even more impactful

TBH the rm reaction is Kinda surprising. Nothing like as varied and often heated as the TFA debate was upon its release.

Honestly don’t know. Probably cos more of our regular posters are on the same page about it and enjoyed it? It doesn’t leave endless questions and fertile bed for theories like TFA did.
