I care about smart people talking about impactful events without acknowledging there's some dark implications behind them.

That is a fair criticism, a lot of what gets posted here bounces from serious to flippant in a single page, so it's hard to tell what's in peoples hearts and minds vs what they think is clever at that moment.

It's probably like a more extremized version of the Times: top brass self-preservation affecting the paper's editorializing and/or strategizing, but the more independent investigative staff are bringing it all back home.
